On December 10, 2025, during the 20th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage taking place in New Delhi, a national nomination of the Republic of Tajikistan “Culture of Sumanak cooking” was adopted and inscribed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

It should be noted that the nomination file was prepared by the Tajikistan National Commission for UNESCO and submitted for the consideration in 2023.

9 Aralık 2025 tarihinde Hindistan Cumhuriyeti’nin Yeni Delhi kentinde, Tacikistan Cumhuriyeti’nin 2003 Somut Olmayan Kültürel Mirasın Korunması Sözleşmesi’nin uygulanmasına ilişkin Periyodik Raporu ve UNESCO Temsili Listesi’nde yer alan unsurların güncel durumu, Somut Olmayan Kültürel Mirasın Korunması Hükümetlerarası Komitesi tarafından resmen kabul edildi.

On December 9, 2025, in New Delhi, Republic of India, the Periodic Report of the Republic of Tajikistan on the implementation of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as the current status of the elements inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List, was officially adopted by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Committee’s positive assessment of the Report acknowledges Tajikistan’s contribution to advancing policies aimed at safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage and recognizes the country’s consistent and exemplary policy framework in this field.

The Periodic Report of Tajikistan was considered during the 20th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which is currently taking place on 8–13 December 2025 in New Delhi, and was recommended as a model document for other countries.

On October 31, 2025, on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the National Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan for UNESCO, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Director-General of UNESCO, Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in priority areas, including science and education, the protection of cultural heritage, the natural sciences, as well as water-related issues.

It was emphasized that Tajikistan attaches particular importance to the further development of cooperation with UNESCO and stands ready to make an active contribution to the promotion of joint initiatives at the regional and global levels.
