On November 18, 2024, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ismatullo Nasredin met with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran and Pakistan Oliver Stolpe.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the UNODC, including border security, combating cross-border threats such as terrorism and extremism, and interaction with the country’s law enforcement agencies.

In addition, the parties confirmed their position on their readiness to further strengthen cooperation and develop mechanisms to eliminate existing threats to peace and security. Ismatullo Nasredin congratulated the Regional Representative on his appointment to position and wished him success in exercising his duties directed to strengthen regional stability.

On September 25, 2024, on the margins of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a meeting with Global Director for the World Bank Group’s Climate Change Global Practice Ms. Jennifer Sara.

The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming International Conference Dedicated to Glaciers’ Preservation to be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, in May 2025. The parties agreed to collaborate on content preparation, with the World Bank joining efforts alongside the Government of Tajikistan, the World Meteorological Organization and UNESCO.

On June 3, 2024, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Central Asia Ms. Ashita Mittal.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues within the framework of UNODC, in particular the progress of the implementation of projects under the UNODC Program for Central Asia for 2022-2025.

Expressing satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNODC, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan thanked A. Mittal for her efforts as the UNODC Regional Representative in Central Asia and wished her success in her future endeavors.

On May 30, 2024, on the sidelines of the Third Ministerial Meeting “Central Asia – Italy” in Rome, a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Ms. Terhi Hakala took place.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in details the ways to expand cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union in the political, economic and security spheres, and also exchanged views on the current situation in the region and the world.

The parties also discussed the preparations process of the Third Dushanbe Water Conference.

On 18 October, 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received copy of Credentials of the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan Mr. Arthur van Diesen.

 

 

 

 

After the ceremony, the parties also discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNICEF, including the process of implementation of the Country Program Document for the 2023 – 2026 period and the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
